Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have quit social media owing to the hate they have found on sites like Facebook and Twitter, the media reports. The couple were rejecting social media in both a personal and professional capacity as part of their new “progressive role” in the United States.

A source close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told the media they had “no plans” to use social media for their new Archewell Foundation and were “very unlikely” to restart utilizing platforms personally. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved to California last year after abruptly resigning from British royal duties, have previously had prominent presences online.

2. Nigeria: Zainab Balogun recounts scary experience with COVID-19

Nollywood actress, Zainab Balogun has explained the huge toll the Coronavirus pandemic took on her health and wellbeing. In a post on her Instagram page, she recounted the hard times she endured when her test came back positive on COVID.

She captioned her post as: “I’m COVID Free!!! 3 words that I’ve been waiting to say for what seemed like forever. I did my 3rd COVID PCR test on Friday and woke up NEGATIVE?. Allow me to act a fool and celebrate because God knows I was ready to be done. Thank you for checking in guys❤️. Sending good vibes your way! I have never missed sitting on this sofa or being able to hug my family like I did in the last few weeks. While my covid symptoms were mild, isolation was very lonely! I felt it was important to document this journey from day 1.”

3. South Africa: Cassper Nyovest responds to AKA’s claim of signing boxing match contract

Rapper Cassper Nyovest has made it very clear that AKA doesn’t want to meet him in the boxing ring. This comes after the star shared his thoughts during a conversation with a Twitter user where he revealed that the boxing match contract AKA was supposed to have signed by now was going to “go back into the drawer it’s been chilling nicely in for months now.”

The “Good For That” hitmaker’s comments come after an AKA fan shared a snap of the rapper “about to sign” on the dotted line of the contract. While he knew the truth, Mufasa laughed off the claims that AKA was about to sign the contract, saying: “That guy doesn’t want to fight. I’ll believe it when the signed contract is handed in. For now, ima gonna go play Fifa with Carpo and speak gugugaga with my beautiful son.”

4. Ghana: Burial service for late Rawlings to be held on January 27

The burial service for the late former president, Jerry John Rawlings will be held on Wednesday, January 27. This is according to a circular from the Ministry of Information and Regional Integration to all Diplomatic Missions, International Organisations and Honorary Consulates accredited to Ghana.

According to the circular dated Friday, January 8, the former President would be laid in state from Sunday, January 24 to Tuesday, January 26 at the Foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre from 9 am to 5 pm daily. A mass will later be held on Tuesday, January 26, at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra from 9 am to 11 am.

5. Sol Bamba: Cardiff City defender undergoing cancer treatment

Championship club Cardiff City have revealed Sol Bamba has started chemotherapy after he was confirmed to be suffering from cancer. The Ivory Coast international has been with the Bluebirds since the summer of 2016 after leaving Leeds United.

“We are saddened to inform supporters that Sol Bamba has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma,” according to a statement from the club website. “With the close support of the club’s medical team, Sol has immediately started a course of chemotherapy treatment.”
