1. Megan Thee Stallion just opened her First Popeyes in Miami
Megan Thee Stallion kicked off the new year with a major business milestone, officially opening her first Popeyes franchise in Miami’s South Beach on New Year’s Eve. Located at 1427 Washington Avenue, the restaurant marks a full-circle moment for the Grammy-winning rapper, whose relationship with the fast-food chain began in 2021 with her viral Hottie Sauce collaboration. Announcing the launch online, Megan shared her excitement and gratitude, telling fans she is “officially a franchise owner” and inviting them to come dine with her in Miami.
Rather than making a brief celebrity appearance, Megan showed up ready to work, greeting staff, learning employees’ names, and even serving customers as fans gathered outside to document the moment. The hands-on opening highlighted her long-standing interest in entrepreneurship beyond music, reinforcing her ability to turn cultural moments into lasting business ventures. Now open to the public, the South Beach Popeyes blends the brand’s signature menu with a dose of Hot Girl energy, offering locals and tourists alike a new spot that reflects Megan’s expanding empire.

Nigerian police have charged Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in a December 29 crash that injured British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua and killed two members of his training team. Kayode, 46, appeared before the Sagamu Magistrate Court after being arraigned by the Ogun State Police Command on four counts, including causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and operating a vehicle without a valid national driver’s licence. Authorities said the collision occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway when the SUV struck a stationary truck, with preliminary findings citing excessive speed and an improper overtaking manoeuvre as contributing factors. Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and his trainer, Latif “Kevin” Ayodele, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The court granted Kayode bail set at five million naira (about $3,400), requiring two sureties, and adjourned the case to January 20, with the defendant remaining in custody until the conditions were met. Joshua sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for checks before being discharged and cleared to recuperate, officials said, just days after his fight win over Jake Paul in Miami. Kayode has pleaded not guilty, with his lawyer and family denying reckless conduct and suggesting a possible mechanical failure, claims that police say are separate from their ongoing investigation. As proceedings continue, the fatal crash has reignited concerns about road safety on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor, prompting renewed calls from authorities for stricter enforcement and improved safeguards along the busy highway.

Krys Marshall is expanding her family. The Paradise actress revealed she is expecting her second child while attending the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday in Santa Monica, marking the announcement two and a half years after welcoming her first baby with husband Ted Dolan in 2023. Marshall, 36, stepped out in a champagne-colored dress that highlighted her baby bump as she celebrated Paradise’s nomination for Best Drama Series. She completed the look with floral-accented heels, David Yurman jewelry, and a sleek bun that complemented her golden glam on the red carpet.
The pregnancy news comes as Marshall continues to enjoy a strong awards-season run, following a standout appearance at the 2025 Emmy Awards, where she memorably revealed she had been sewn into her gown after a last-minute zipper malfunction. While Marshall and Dolan have largely kept their family life private, the actress has occasionally shared glimpses of motherhood with fans. She previously announced the birth of their first child in June 2023, writing that the baby had arrived “safe and sound,” and has since posted tender moments with her growing family.

Manchester United has dismissed manager Ruben Amorim after a turbulent 14-month spell at Old Trafford, the Premier League club confirmed on Monday. In a statement, the club said it had “reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change,” adding that the move was intended to give the team “the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish.” Amorim, who was appointed in November 2024 following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, struggled to deliver consistent results, leaving United sixth in the table after an uninspiring draw with Leeds United on Sunday.
Tensions appeared to have escalated behind the scenes. Amorim publicly expressing frustration over his role and interference from the club’s leadership in what proved to be his final news conference less than 24 hours before his dismissal. His tenure ended with the worst win ratio and goals-conceded record of any Manchester United manager in the Premier League era, according to Opta, despite earlier backing from minority owner Jim Ratcliffe. Former player and academy coach Darren Fletcher will take charge on an interim basis for Wednesday’s match against Burnley as United begin yet another search for a permanent manager amid continued instability at the club.
