R&B singer Mýa has announced her 10th studio album, Retrospect, marking her first full-length release in eight years. The project, set to arrive this spring via her independent label Planet 9 in partnership with Virgin Music, will be her first album since 2018’s T.K.O. (The Knock Out). Mýa revealed the news during an appearance on Sherri, where she described the album as a reflection on the music that shaped her upbringing and early career. She also teased a short list of collaborators, including 21 Savage and Joyner Lucas.
Retrospect is led by the single “ASAP,” released on January 30, which blends late ’70s and ’80s funk and soul with contemporary R&B production. Co-produced by Mýa and Lamar “MyGuyMars” Edwards, the track reflects what the singer described as “power and sensuality in the same breath.” According to her team, the album has been in development since 2016 and serves as a personal nod to classic funk, R&B, and soul influences, updated with modern elements. The announcement follows an active period for Mýa, who in 2025 celebrated the 25th anniversary of “Fear of Flying,” performed at the BET Awards, and toured with Brandy and Monica on The Boy Is Mine Tour.

The United States has deployed a small contingent of troops to Nigeria, marking its first officially acknowledged military presence in the country since U.S. airstrikes targeted terrorist positions in the North-West on Christmas Day 2025. The deployment follows airstrikes ordered in December by U.S. President Donald Trump against what he described as Islamic State-linked targets, after he signaled that further American military action in Nigeria could be taken if necessary. It was reported that ahead of the strikes, the U.S. had conducted surveillance flights over Nigeria from neighboring Ghana since at least late November, providing intelligence support for the operation.
According to reports, the troop deployment stems from a bilateral agreement between Nigeria and the United States aimed at boosting cooperation against escalating terrorist threats across West Africa. Speaking at a press briefing, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Commander General Dagvin R.M. Anderson said the agreement had deepened collaboration, including the deployment of a small U.S. team with specialized capabilities to support Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts. Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, also confirmed the presence of U.S. personnel. Security sources said the team is likely involved in intelligence gathering and operational support against extremist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The Walt Disney Company has named Josh D’Amaro as its next Chief Executive Officer, with the Board of Directors unanimously voting to elevate the Disney Experiences Chairman to the role effective March 18, 2026. D’Amaro will succeed longtime CEO Robert A. Iger following the company’s Annual Meeting and is also expected to join Disney’s Board of Directors immediately afterward. A 28-year Disney veteran, D’Amaro currently leads the company’s largest business segment, Disney Experiences, which generated $36 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2025 and employs about 185,000 Cast Members and employees worldwide. The Board praised his leadership in overseeing the largest global expansion in the segment’s history and driving growth in financial performance, creativity, and guest satisfaction.
Alongside D’Amaro’s appointment, Disney announced that Dana Walden, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, will become President and Chief Creative Officer in a newly created role, reporting directly to the incoming CEO. Iger, who has mentored internal candidates throughout the succession process, will transition to Senior Advisor and remain on the Board until his retirement at the end of 2026. In a statement, D’Amaro said he was grateful for the Board’s trust and committed to honoring Disney’s legacy while continuing to innovate and grow the company. Iger, who has led Disney through nearly two decades of expansion and a major strategic transformation since returning in 2022, expressed confidence that D’Amaro’s blend of creativity and operational excellence positions the company strongly for its next chapter.

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Darius Garland and a future second-round draft pick, according to multiple reports. ESPN first reported that the deal had been finalized, though it is still pending official league approval. The move sends the 11-time All-Star Harden back to the Eastern Conference during his highest-scoring season in six years.
Harden, who is averaging 25.4 points per game, has been central to the Clippers’ turnaround after a 6–21 start and will become Cleveland’s latest star addition alongside Donovan Mitchell. The trade marks Harden’s sixth NBA team, following stints with Oklahoma City, Houston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. For the Clippers, the deal signals a longer-term outlook with the acquisition of the 26-year-old Garland, a two-time All-Star averaging 18 points and 6.9 assists this season. Clippers coach Tyronn Lue praised Harden’s impact amid reports of the trade, while the Cavaliers appear to be making a short-term push by pairing the veteran guard with Mitchell as they eye postseason success.
