From ATAFO To Ugo Monye: A Look Back At Ebuka’s Most Dapper Looks On BBNaija S9

With every new season of Big Brother Nigeria, one element of the show we always look forward to experiencing is Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s way of putting the spotlight on innovative Nigerian designers at every live show. From his regulars like ATAFO and Deco 29, every season tells a different story with fashion while meticulously catering to the range of cultures in Nigeria through the infusion of specific traditional elements into futuristic looks that go on to set trends.

The BBNaija No Loose Guard season was no different. In fact, this season might arguably be one of Ebuka’s most experimental seasons when it comes to fashion as he, in collaboration with his designers, put a twist on pre-existing designs and as usual, stole the spotlight on more occasions than one. Here are some of our favorite looks.

Check out some of our favorite looks of Ebuka on BBNaija season 9…

Rocking Ugo Monye:

It’s obvious Ebuka keeps his longtime designers close to his heart, and Ugo Monye is one designer who continues to experiment and innovate, a vision that ties into Ebuka’s style. For this look, the duo created a streetwear-inspired Adire two-piece, accentuated with beads along the patterns.

Infusing elements of traditional attire and streetwear, they made a fashion-forward piece that further proves their mutual love for constantly pushing the limits of male fashion with their collaboration. It’s easily one of the best looks we saw on Ebuka during the No Loose Guard Season.

Ebuka in Deco 29:

It’s not a BBNaija season if Deco 29 does not show up and show out with his signature traditional look for the BBNaija live eviction show. Ebuka looked regal in the all-black agbada ensemble tagged ‘Oba Dudu.’ According to Deco, this piece celebrated cultural heritage through fashion, as the ensemble is like wearing a story that connects people to their roots and traditions.

With the aim of constantly telling cultural stories through fashion, Deco delivers every season. We have to appreciate the attention to detail and THE STAFF! Immaculate styling.

Regal in ATAFO:

When you see this outfit, the first thing that screams at you is the details. In typical Ebuka fashion, his third outfit for the BBNaija S9 opening night was a traditional attire embroidered with gold stitching and accessorised with statement gold accessories.

The outfit stole the night because of its unconventional yet traditional take on Nigerian native wear. ATAFO x Ebuka collaboration is always a hit. It’s a no-brainer.

Edgy in T.I Nathan:

This is easily the most modern, yet futuristic and innovative look Ebuka wore on BBNaija this season. But before we talk about the star of the show–the blazer, can we talk about the shoes? The Balenciaga space shoe added an edge to this outfit, and it was a welcome addition.

Now, the blazer, with T.I Nathan’s signature stitching, the two-toned cropped blazer stole the show as the unique silhouette and boxy fitting brought the overall look to life. It’s Ebuka, so obviously, the accessories were also on point.

Honorable Mention:

Did you know that Ebuka’s look for the seventh live show was inspired by his 83-year-old dad, Chief Obi A. Uchendu? From the choice of fabric to the accessories and composure, everything was a ten over ten, and Deco 29 once again deserves his flowers for always telling important stories with fashion.

The BBNaija No Loose Guard finale went live Sunday, October 6 on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 49 and of course, Ebuka had even more interesting styling in store for us–this time, with two more ATAFO ensembles. The first, a vibrant suit look:

It was a day of dreams turned reality with N65 million cash prize and an SUV worth N50 million at stake. In the end, finalist KellyRae Sule took home the crown as the season ended with a resounding bang.
