Let’s Talk About Hair, Baby!
A while back, there were two things I dreaded the most immediately after getting my “perfect hair” done and all dolled up at the salon. They were: (1) Having to go out clubbing later on at night and getting smoke in my hair and (2) The weird one – sleeping!
Every girl knows that no matter how nice your hair/weave looks post salon magic, it never remains the same post sleep. While I’m still yet to come up with a solution for the former that doesn’t include staying home on a Friday night, here are a few ways I have discovered to having your hair looking brand new (without much manipulation of course) even after you’ve had that all too deserved solid night sleep.
For Wavy Hair
Before you go to bed, section your hair into between 2 to 4 parts depending on how wavy your desire the outcome, then spritz the each section sparingly with some leave-in conditioner and wrap up in a bun securing it with bobby pins. Unravel the buns when you’re ready to head out, using your fingers or a wide tooth comb to style and viola!
Sleek Straight Hair
Wrap your hair around your head in a full or semi-circle depending on the length, hold in place with bobby pins and then tie in a silk scarf. For extra caution against the scarf pulling off, sleep on a silk pillowcase. Also make sure to keep the temperature of your room cool as to avoid humidity which will lead to sweating which will puff up your hair.
Apply the same steps as with the wavy hair, only that this time, make the buns a lot bigger. Add mousse after unraveling the curls just to give it that bounce and volume and just like magic, your perfect hair wakes up with you every single morning.
Protective styling such as bantu knots, flat twists and braids are your best bet. Remember to sleep on silk sheets or use a silk scarf and section your hair accordingly so that you can achieve your desired curl pattern.
Braids and Locks
This might be a little tricky, especially if you prefer to let your braids hang while you sleep. In that case, your best option might be to tie a scarf around your head and over the braids to secure the braids and prevent it from pulling out while you sleep. However, if freeing the braids aren’t your thing, dust up your good ol’ hair net to protect your perfect hair.
