5 Major Wedding Trends To Know For 2020

Wedding trends evolve from decade to decade and with 2020 being the start of a new decade, we are not expecting any different. Planning a wedding is no mean feat and in these days of unrestrained creativity, more and more brides are committed to creating their own unique wedding experience.

From wedding dress styles to wedding venues to ultra-customized menus, there are a number of major changes coming to the global wedding culture in 2020 and in the bid to customize her wedding to the very last detail, a 2020 bride may not even realize that she’s actually jumping on the biggest wedding trends of the season.

For starters, with the rise of technology and social media, couples now opt for online invitations where they can add digital touches such as geofilters to invite, easily track their RSVP list or link their social media accounts to their wedding site so that guests can stay updated on every move they make leading up to their big day.

But there’s more… here are 5 major wedding trends to expect in 2020…

#1. Statement veils

In 2020, brides will be looking at their wedding veils in a different light as the veil will no longer be seen as an add on but as an integral part of the entire wedding look. Every bride knows that the veil is a perfect statement accessory for her bridal look and can lift up the simplest wedding dress while also being a timeless keepsake.

With Meghan Markle using her wedding veil to make a statement to support her loyalty to Prince Harry last year, 2019 saw a surge in statement wedding veils and we expect this surge to last through 2020. Meghan’s 16-foot veil was embroidered with the signature flowers from all of the countries in the British Commonwealth. Any bride can have her veil customized with embroidery or other symbolic appliqués or embellishments.

#2. Vegan menus

More people are ditching animal products in a bid to live healthier. Couples are also beginning to show more empathy as they tend to cater to the needs of their guests even though they themselves might not be vegan. The best part about a vegan wedding menu lies in the fact that they are also enjoyed by non-vegans.

#3. Floral bridal crowns

There is no doubt that accessories make or break any look and of all the bridal accessories out there, the headpiece is definitely the exclamation point! It is the wow-factor that makes a bride pop as she makes her first appearance. Floral crowns made major appearances on several SS20 runway shows during New York, London, Paris and Milan fashion weeks, indicating that they will be very popular come Spring 2020.

Floral crowns / tiaras have been a symbol of love, fertility and celebration throughout history and around the world making it one of the 2020 wedding trends any bride-to-be should consider. Want to look eternally ageless on your wedding day? Try a floral bridal crown!

These days, many brides are opting for versatile wedding dresses seeing as they would rather wear a dress they can re-rock some other time. Wedding designers have also caught up with this trend and are making dresses for the bride who does not want to look too bridal or the bride who wants a versatile dress. The great thing about having a versatile wedding dress made for you is that you can customize any of the traditional wedding dress silhouettes into a dress that can be worn for any special event.

The beauty of having nature as your backdrop as you say “I do” can only be experienced and not explained. This is the drive behind outdoor weddings being a venue trend come 2020. One of the best things about having an outdoor wedding is that the possibilities are endless and you are in control of the theme, decor and all, weather permitting.
