Last Week, The Best Dressed Stars Bet On La Chaude Fashion

“The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress.” ~ Hubert de Givenchy. Last week, our ever-stylish African ladies were a la mode as they shined ever so stylishly in striking fashion. Swaying in unique fabrics, asymmetric hems, and overall dripping red-hot finesse, these ladies proved once again why they are regarded as stylistas

From birthday celebrations to hosting gigs, our best-dressed ladies brought their oomph and some more. They added profundity to what could have been just another week of sartorial status quo. Clearly a constant breath of fresh air.

The Looks

The ever-enchanting Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello stunned in cobalt blue sequins and tulle detailed dress by Nigerian fashion designer, Ladybeellionaire as she celebrated the 60th birthday of her colleague, Richard Mofe-Damijo. The dress, which undoubtedly complemented her skin tone, exuded an aura of elegance and timelessness, two words we often use to describe this style queen.

On hosting duties, Nigerian media sensation, Nancy Isime reminded us that the baby girl life is still a priority in a rich fuchsia pink satin dress by Nigerian designer, SOMObysomo as she hosted The Voice Nigeria Season 3 Live show. The outfit boasts an embroidered bodice and a thigh-high slit on the voluminous bottom. She finished off the look with fuchsia pink satin slingback pumps by Amina Muaddi and matching nail polish.

The sun must have been jealous when South African star Khanyi Mbau Metanoia dropped a sun-hot shot on our feeds last week. The showstopper rocked a two-piece bejeweled piece with puffy sleeves and an accompanying Sasha fierce-like attitude. You could tell she was legit walking on sunshine and brightening our TLs, she sure did. Over in East Africa, Tanzanian artiste, Faustina Charles Mfinanga shouldered the responsibility of serving sizzling charm in an alluring blue number with sophisticated sleeves, silver dropping earrings and a braided updo for the culture.

The styles shared by African women and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.
