Last Week, The Best Beauty Looks Amplified Braided Hairstyles

he interesting thing about confidence is that we all have it, yet for some reason, some can’t easily find it. All too often, we needlessly search everywhere else for what we have inside of ourselves—which ends up creating a feeling of inadequacy. Last week, Black Queens made a case for pure confidence—the kind that oozes from within and shines through over layers of fine makeup—which in turn reminded us to look inwards as we seek to project a polished sense of confidence. From the red carpet to casual selfies, Black celebs embraced their authentic beauty and confidence naturally followed.

The Looks

Makeup

Music sensation Kelly Rowland showed up for the premiere of Nope Movie advocating for a subtle face beat. The look, created by celebrity makeup artist Wendi Miyake, was a flawless blend of muted glam and sexy. It featured a strong contour for dimension, a well-lined nude pout, and brilliant eyes. Speaking of eyes, her eyelids served as the perfect canvas for a lavender-toned shadow which offered a much welcome color pop. Chic and sexy are two words that very well describe the look.

Brown tones are so in this summer, and brown skin girls are riding the wave. Hollywood darling, Marsai Martin also showed up for the premiere of Nope Movie beguiling in earthy tones. The full brows, floating liner in black, and brown lipstick came together nicely for a well-thought-out authentic beauty look. And if that wasn’t enough, the 18-year-old warmed our hearts further with her charming smile.

Hair

We are rooting for Michaela Coel‘s hair (pun intended), seriously. At the 2022 Comic-Con International event in San Diego, the new cast member of Black Panther – Wakanda Forever wowed at Marvell Cinematic Universe’s press line in shoulder-grazing braids. We particularly love the witty play of width and textures of the hairdo. The edgy hairstyle consists of a series of tiny braids held together brilliantly by thick voluminous braids. The end result is a look that’s both tribal and authentic. Confidence executed!
