Alicia Keys Talks Confidence, The Pandemic And Self-Care For Her Allure Magazine Cover
A fashion and pop culture writer who watches a lot…
Thanks to the April issue of Allure magazine, Alicia Keys and her beauty looks are all the inspiration you need for your dewy spring and summer makeup ideas.
The multi-award winning singer-songwriter once again stayed true to her choice to step away from heavy makeup and kept things pretty simple with just eyeliner, neutral-colored eyeshadow and lip colors, and a healthy glow. And, we are sure at least part of her natural luminescence was thanks to her very own Keys Soulcare offerings.
The magazine spread includes a ton of shots of Keys looking like an ethereal goddess, with makeup done by Tasha Brown. Other people on her glam team include Jason Bolden who handled styling, Nai’vasha Grace for hair and Temeka Jackson for nails. The natural-inspired beauty look makes her face look soft and open, while the subtle glow gives her a desirable beach vibe.
Along with the captivating photos she served for her Allure Magazine April 2021 cover feature, the mother of two also revealed some interesting things in her interview.
Here are 3 things Alicia Keys revealed for her Allure cover…
#1. On her journey to build her confidence
Inside, the multi-Grammy-winning singer reveals her constant battle to build her confidence while singing about love, loss and pain.
“In my creative process, I always start very insecure,” Alicia Keys tells Allure. “I’m like, ‘Is this right? How is this landing? Do I feel good about this?’ I have to live in that insecurity for a bit, and then, as time progresses, I get more confident. And I’m like, ‘You know what? I love this.’ Then I start to feel more swaggy and confident.”
#2. On what the pandemic made her love
Alicia also said she’s enjoyed the new experience of working from home during the pandemic, between loving on her husband, Swizz Beatz, and homeschooling their kids.
“I’ve been traveling with music since I was 17 or 18. There’s really never been a time when I’ve just been still,” Keys explains. “It’s a new experience and it feels really, really, really good, in that sense of being still and solid with my family unit and being much more present.”
#3. On the inspiration behind her self-care brand
A few months ago, Alicia Keys embarked on another new experience by launching her self-care line, Keys Soulcare. It offers candles and skincare products, as well as ritual packages for you and your soulmate, inspiring others to take care of their mind, body and spirit.
“I don’t want to sell people stuff, I really don’t,” Alicia Keys told Allure about Keys Soulcare. “I want to have a conversation, and want to learn and I want to share whatever it is that’s helped me become more centered. I’ve never felt comfortable in my skin. I’ve never felt like I can depend on myself without having to check with 30 other people to make sure that my opinion is valid. I like the way that I feel right now, and it took quite a while to get to this place.”
