The Elfonnie Edit: I Rang In The New Year In Style With 21Seeds Tequila

Cheers to the new year Style Ravens! While 2020 was a year quite like no other, I hope to remember it as a year that changed our world and one in which I learned so many great life and business lessons. You see, for the past five years, I’ve been mostly focused on working behind the scenes and building the Style Rave brand but that’s about to change as one of my resolutions for 2021 is to be more visible in everything I do and that includes my brands.

With this resolution in mind, I waited for the perfect opportunity to herald my new beginning and decided to celebrate the dawn of the new year in my favorite color––black, and a befitting cocktail drink.

Being more of an occasional drinker, I really wanted a light tequila as my cocktail base so finding out that 21Seeds Tequila, which I have been hearing so much about lately, has a low ABV (35% vs 40% for most tequilas) pushed it to the top of my beverage options.

Anyone who really knows me knows that I’m the queen of background research so before settling on celebrating with 21Seeds, I decided to learn a little more about the brand. For starters, it’s a female-owned brand so I was sold at their bio! As a female entrepreneur, I’m all for supporting other Women Business Enterprises and this one checks all the right boxes.

Before I share my cocktail recipe, let me tell you a bit about my new favorite tequila brand, with the hope of helping you fall in love with a refreshingly simple and versatile tequila drink while also inspiring other aspiring female entrepreneurs or anyone for that matter.

How 21Seeds came to life

21Seeds was founded by Kat Hantas, along with her sister Nicole Hantas-Emanuel, and friend Sarika Singh. These women literally built the brand together and their success story reminds me of what can happen when women go into business partnerships. Having built the Style Rave brand with my sister, I can truly relate.

As the story goes, the idea came about when Kat’s doctor recommended a switch from fermented spirits (like wine and beer) to distilled spirits (like tequila), for health reasons. She wanted to create a tequila that was as easy to drink and approachable as a glass of wine! And Voila! 21Seeds was birthed. Today, the brand is a WBENC certified (female-owned and female-run!) company with the tagline: #GirlsCallTheShots. In their words, they are “made by women, for women, and the men who support them!”

So why all the buzz about 21Seeds?

Now, with Kat’s doctor recommending something healthier, you best believe she was going to churn out something healthy. And as such, 21Seeds is an all-natural, gluten-free, keto-friendly, non-GMO, low-ABV tequilas. It is infused with real fruit, so with the flavor already present, you really don’t need to add a bunch of high-calorie sweeteners / mixers just to make it smooth. And with 3 major flavors, Valencia Orange, Grapefruit Hibiscus, and Cucumber Jalepeño Tequila, your options for an effortless, ready-to-drink cocktail are limitless.

My special cocktail recipe

Once I got to know more about the brand, making my new year’s celebration cocktail was like partying with a new friend––okay, you get my drift. Since I already had orange juice at home, I opted to make a tequila screwdriver cocktail with 21Seeds Valencia Orange. I really wanted to make something a little fancy because I plan to make 2021 a fun year after everything the past year put us through.

Here’s my special recipe:

• 1 shot of 21Seeds Valencia Orange
• Orange juice (chilled)
• Slices of fresh orange
• 3 blackberries
• Mint leaves (optional)

The resulting taste was as refreshing as it looks, especially because 21Seeds is an all-natural, real fruit-infused tequila. Since the flavor is already infused, you can have 21Seeds as is or if you are feeling like a mixologist just like me, then you can attempt my recipe. You can also try out more simple cocktail recipes specially recommended by the brand hereOh, you’ll need a bottle, so grab yours here.

In the words of Herbert Hoover, “cocktail time is the pause between the errors and trials of the day and the hopes of the night.” In my opinion, as long as you are above the recommended drinking age in your country, and are not working, a glass of cocktail will work its magic in the morning, afternoon, or night.

21Seeds is ideal for a movie date at home, a casual night in, and parties––when things begin to return to normal. So whether you’re celebrating new year’s all month long, your birthday soon, or already making plans for Valentine’s, it’s a drink you should have handy in your bar.

Here’s to new beginnings and to a fun, stylish, and purposeful living in 2021. Cheers!
