The British-Nigerian actor John Boyega has become an even bigger star after appearing in the “Star Wars” franchise including “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which came out in December 2019. But his heart may even be bigger than his star power, at least according to a video he recently shared on Instagram. The 27-year-old shared the moment he revealed to his parents that he had bought them a new house.
The surprise actually happened a few years ago but this is the first time John has shared the moment publicly. The Half of a Yellow Sun actor brought cameras along as he tricked his parents, Abigail and Samson Adegboyega, into thinking they were going for an ‘interview’ at a property and, of course, they completely fell for the act.
He then revealed the big news: There was really no interview, and the house they were sitting in belonged to them. Afterwards, both parents just sat there with blank expressions on their face. Confused and totally surprised!
“Dad, this is your house,” John’s sister says, off-camera. “We’ve been planning this for four, five months,” Boyega followed. The actor then explained to his parents why he wanted to purchase the home for them. “It’s a small token,” he said. “But I just thought it was best that you live in an environment and place where you’re happy and you have space and privacy.”
“It’s your prayers that have got this,” Boyega added. “Because the skill and ability that I’ve received have been from your prayers, and I cannot ignore what God has used my parents to do in my life, and this is just my physical appreciation, honestly, from the bottom of my heart.” Boyega’s father started to cry, so the actor hugged him, then rubbed his shoulders.
John Boyega did not give a full tour of his parents’ new house in the video, but one can see from the video it has multiple levels, huge windows and a high ceiling.
