Born from a legacy of style, Tracee Ellis Ross is known for her sartorial flair and taking fashion risks with ease and grace, the British Fashion Council representative said in a statement.Whether gracing the Emmys red carpet in couture, thanking her shopping habit for her often documented street style, or inviting her more than nine million followers on social media to make fun of her dad sneakers, Ross uses fashion as a mean of self-expression and communication. She not only loves fashion; she has fun with it.

Asides being a multiple award-winning actress, Tracee Ellis Ross is also the CEO and founder of Pattern — a haircare brand which launched in September 2019. According to her, she started the brand as a service to women with curly and tight-textured hair. Pattern sold out of the majority of items within one day. The brand also helps support organizations and programs that empower women and people of colour.

Seeing as the event also marks the British Fashion Council’s largest fundraiser for its charitable and business support initiatives, with a focus on education, business and mentoring schemes that support talent from school level and emerging designers to fashion start-ups and established brands, Tracee Ellis Ross’s extensive work and advocacy makes her the perfect person to host the 2019 Fashion Awards.
