Katharine McPhee Was The Ultimate Modern Bride As She Married David Foster

In something like a modern fairytale, actress, singer and songwriter Katharine McPhee, 35, and David Foster, 69, tied the knot on Friday, June 28, at the Church of St. Yeghiche, South Kensington, London.

The bride wore a custom strapless pin-tucked antique white tulle gown by Zac Posen for the nuptials. The dress was made of 250 yards of tulle, 150 yards of pin-tucked tulle and an additional 100 yard of tulle under the pin-tucked structure. She paired the dress with a pin-tucked tulle cape-line veil.

Zac Posen added a romantic detail to Katharine McPhee’s wedding dress ahead of her and David Foster’s June 28 nuptials: the musical notations to one of Foster’s love songs. This is Katharine’s second attempt at matrimony and David’s fifth.

Talking about her inspiration behind the dress in an exclusive with Vogue, Katharine said:

“I really trusted Zac Posen to make my wedding dress and I knew he would bring my dream to fruition. I had sent him some reference images of Princess Grace because I loved her classic beauty and elegant simplicity.”

“Zac told me he wanted to incorporate our love of music somehow into the dress, so one of David’s songs was notated on the back. It was the song, ‘The Colour of my Love,’ that he wrote for Celine Dion and René Angélil for their wedding day. It was a relationship that David always admired, and he was there from the beginning.”

“The wedding dress turned out to be more than I could’ve ever imagined, but what I didn’t expect was that Zac would also be with me as a guest and to personally oversee my every move.”

The floral arrangements were as luxuriant as they could be but the real eye candy was the floral towering cake. In photos exclusively obtained by Vogue, we got a peek at the dessert which the newlyweds cut into with an actual sword.

The six-layer cake was frosted with snow-white icing. Cream and pink roses formed a sweet bouquet at the top as more roses wound down the sides and formed a beautiful blooming base.

Katharine changed into an off-shoulder off-white dress from Zac Posen’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection for dinner at a private club in London. They wanted it to be a family-style reception and that’s exactly what it was.

For her first dance with David Foster, she wore a Cinderella-inspired smoky blue duchess satin tea-length cocktail dress also by Zac Posen. The design’s based off of a look from the designer’s Spring 2013 collection. She paired this third look with a pair of embellished silver sandals and a spherical metallic crystal clutch by Judith Leiber, which she also used to style her second look.

Katherine and David Foster danced to the very song which was notated on her wedding dress. Now, isn’t that what a modern fairytale is made of?
