Yemi Alade’s Bounce Is A Lookbook Of Eclectic Styles + More Trending Nigerian Songs

In this week’s music roundup, Alade wants us to ‘Bounce’ as she serves a dance-worthy tune complete with visuals that look more like a fashion lookbook with styles from the 80s to the 90s and beyond. Burna Boy, who is currently on his African Giant Tour – where, so far, he has performed in multiple cities in Africa, Europe and America – releases a new single titled Anybody. In this song, we see his trademark display of star energy, literally and figuratively.

MC Galaxy teamed up with Harrysong and Duncan Mighty to tell us that Man Must Wack! And we agree. There is no better way than this to end the week with a reminder that the “hustle” continues. Before then, get your dancing shoes and let these trending Nigerian songs help you relax this weekend.

Here are 5 of the hottest new songs in Nigeria…

1. Yemi Alade – Bounce

No matter what has happened over the week, the weekend is just the right time to forget everything, listen to Yemi Alade as she asks you to bounce. With this dance anthem, your gwara gwara, shaku shaku and other dance moves will thank you for revisiting them.

The visuals also showcase Yemi’s love for fashion as everything from denim to Ankara to athleisure and more make a cameo in what looks like a video timeline of the evolution of fashion.

Produced by Egar Boi, this serves as the official lead single to Yemi’s upcoming fourth studio album Woman of Steel. If the multiple award-winning diva is already making us bounce like this, I wonder what she has in store for us with the rest of the album.

2. Burna Boy – Anybody

In what may be the most personal song we have heard from the Afro-fusion artiste in recent months, Burna Boy’s Anybody addresses respect, growth, reputation and more importantly, recognizing who you are and taking charge. The music comes from a place deep within the artiste, chronicling his journey to where he is today while addressing paying his dues and rightly so.

OluwaBurna, as he fondly calls himself, is reminding us that the energy you give is the energy you get and he has switched it up. In true Burna Boy fashion, he maintains his easy conversational approach in this single but switched up on its groove. Anyone who is looking for great music which makes for easy listening will automatically be a fan of Anybody.

3. Adekunle Gold Ft. Vanessa Mdee – Before You Wake Up (Remix)

Adekunle Gold is not resting on his oars. He is back again and this time the Afro-pop singer and songwriter teams up with controversial Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee on the remix of his hit single. The remix of Before You Wake Up has the duo switching things up to present us with an up-tempo track.

Now, who wouldn’t want to go on a vacation for 6 months twice in a year? Vanessa and Adekunle have us all wishing we could take that kind of vacation.

4. Maleek Berry – Flashy

The last time British-Nigerian singer and record producer, Maleek Berry gave us any tune was in December 2018 and you can be sure his fans are excited with the release of his latest and first single of the year, Flashy.

Maleek Berry says he is now flashy – meaning attractive – after grinding for a long time and chasing dreams and those who didn’t believe him back in the day now want to roll and party with him. Even the ladies also want to have his baby now that he is shining. He also brags about getting clean money way before the deal and having “them” hooked on his beats way before the pill. Interesting…

5. Mc Galaxy Ft. Harrysong x Duncan Mighty – Man Must Wack

The okokobioko master, MC Galaxy, is back again and this time he is not alone as he teams up with highlife master Harrysong and Port Harcourt first son, Duncan Mighty to re-enforce the fact that hustle must pay.

Produced by Masterkraft and mixed and mastered by Selebobo, this tune will definitely get you moving your body. He uses this song to visit issues that have been trending in the Nigerian entertainment scenes and we love the way he put things together. Truly, man must wack.
