Arise Fashion Week 2019 took off on Friday, April 19 with a good number of emerging and eminent brands showcasing their designs on what’s been hailed as “the most beautiful runway in Africa.” The venue was the Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island as Gozel Green, a Nigerian womenswear brand created by twin sisters Sylvia Enekwe and Olivia Jude-Okoji brought eclectic chic to the forefront of fashion.
Capturing a rich essence of the beautiful intertwining of fashion and art, Gozel Green’s 2019 Autumn/Winter collection embodied a powerful and diverse romanticism with forgiving feminine silhouettes.
With the use of eccentric colours and unconventional details, the designers easily gave a feel of originality by showcasing designs that embody subtle splendour.
Strutting in enchanting formation, the models looked effortlessly stunning as they rolled out in pieces that included craftily layered dresses and artsy two-pieces. An interesting element of this alternative brand for the modern day fashionista is – storytelling. Through destructured shapes and alluring but muted hues, each piece displayed had a story to tell of the strength, passion and uniqueness that every woman possesses.
Gozel Green definitely made its fashion-forward mark at Arise Fashion Week by proving to us all that style can be eclectic and non-dimensional yet totally desirable.
