The AFWN is the biggest catwalk show for emerging designers in Nigeria. This initiative was launched in 2014 with the sole aim of offering a unique platform that celebrates the best of Africa, showcasing her creativity and colours to the world, bringing about positive vibes of all that’s wonderful and beautiful and stylish and creative about Nigeria. It offers indigenous designers the opportunity to showcase their artistic and creative prowess through their collection, thereby gaining grounds in the fashion world with other known names in the business. Participants include fashion designers, textile designers, accessory designers, footwear and handbag designers, jewelers and milliners representing the cultural fashion scene from across the country.
The growing appeal for African inspired designs globally and the level of creativity displayed by Nigerian designers has gone a notch higher than the contemporary expectation. The Africa Fashion Week provides inspiration for the emergence of Nigeria’s Next Top Designer. Last year showcased 46 designers with their remarkable collections and saw rising designer Chaab emerge as the winner. See the gallery for a peek at last year’s event.
This year promises to blow your mind away with exciting, creative and very fashion forward designs from aspiring designers and will also feature musical performances from such big names as Yemi Alade.
Tickets are currently selling towards the big event which holds on the 1st – 3rd of July, 2016. Visit the AFWN website for more details.
