Last Week, The Best Beauty Looks Were Simply Striking

We agree with Rita Ora when she said, “Girls have always wanted to be pretty, even in Egyptian times. Cleopatra wore all the eyeliner, you know.” Looking resplendent, Black celebrities and beauty influencers were sighted around the globe using hair and makeup creativity to express themselves. From delightful hairstyles to pro-level face beats against conspicuous melanin skin tones, last week’s best beauty looks were simply striking.

Hair

Top model Ebonee Davis pulled a complete vintage look and raised the standard on us with her 80s inspired Afro hairstyle, minimalist makeup, vintage hoops and statement necklace. She looked like a true black goddess in the effortlessly gorgeous lewk.

Nigerian Actress Linda Osifo never restrains from gracing us with her signature dashing smile. Last week she did so while rocking thigh length knotless braids. that instantly made us crave some long braids. If all her 1 million followers feel the same way, we fear the hair appointment queue might be crazier than usual this week. African braids are so timeless and now more than ever, the rest of the world is finally catching up with its magical versatility.

On the natural hair scene, hair influencer Angela Onuoha and Nollywood star Beverly Naya brought their natural curls out to play, livening up our screens with their bouncy and healthy tresses. While most of us opting for straight hairstyles, these two queens proved that natural twist outs are totally an IT hairdo and one to consider if you need a break from extensions and wigs.

Makeup

Last week on Instagram, there was no middle ground on the makeup scene. Celebrities were either piping it low in nude face beats or popping all the way up in glam looks. Yet, the former wasn’t in any way toned down—the irony of it all. Top model Leomie Anderson literally came with a bang as she reminded us that fashion and beauty is what you make of it, so long as confidence remains in the mix. Her subtle makeup gave room for her piercing eyes to take center stage as she struck a pose for Jean Paul Gaultier.

If you have been sitting on the sidelines when it comes to colorful eye shadows, now is the time to face your fears. South Sudanese / Australian supermodel, Ducky Thot came through with an orange eye shadow which allowed her melanin hotness to unapologetically drip on us like liquid fire. Canadian-based beauty influencer and YouTuber Jasmine Egal also got the memo as she took pink to a whole new glam level with a matching eye shadow-hijab twist. The Somalian beauty chose a Teddy 2.0 powdered kiss nude lipstick and baby pink powder kiss soft matte eye shadows for her Mac Cosmetics Canada giveaway on Instagram. It’s definitely the best time to explore some bold colors.

The beguiling Nigerian model Obi Jacqueline was burning red hot in this sultry Valentine shoot, her faultless makeup was the extra boost our timelines needed to get us straight into Valentine mood. Abuja-based makeup artist, Duprinah paired a glossy red lipstick with matching artsy nails, against a winged eyeliner look that had the model’s honey brown eyes piercing straight at us.

There was even more hair and makeup magic to be wowed by.
