Tomorrow, August 31 marks the 22nd anniversary of Princess Diana’s tragic death. The late Princess of Wales would have celebrated her 58th birthday on the 1st of July. Even though her life was cut short, she left a lasting legacy thanks to her dedication and passionate work on humanitarian issues. Besides her humanitarian works, Princess Diana was known for her iconic looks when it came to fashion, so much so that she has been identified as the original monarch who ruled the art of royal dressing.

Princess Diana may have needed to embrace Royal etiquette, but she was also in charge of setting her own fashion rules and iconic looks. She had rules such as not wearing gloves on official visits and single-handedly making the Dior handbag one of the most coveted in the world. When it came to her style, she favored bold looks in bright colors, fun prints, and interesting textures – always picking the perfect silhouette for her figure.

She was definitely one of the fashion icons of her time and of course of all time as her looks still inspire celebrities and influencers of this age. Many trends that are widely seen on the catwalk were first worn by Princess Diana. She loved a variety of designers including Versace, Jenny Packham, Amanda Wakeley, Christian Dior and Bruce Oldfield. She also loved classic items with a high-end edge and many of her ensembles would totally work today – particularly her polka-dotted outfits, tweed jackets, high heel shoes, bold blazers, tailored shirts and stunning handbag collection.

As we celebrate the gift of Princess Diana, let’s look back at some of her most iconic looks…
