There was a time when runway shows were mainly ran by models. This is no longer the case as celebrities are now being asked by designers to walk their shows as was the case this past Saturday in Paris when Italian billionaire fashion designer and businesswoman, Miuccia Bianchi Prada wowed guests with her star-studded runway cast. The head designer of Prada and the founder of its subsidiary Miu Miu tapped celebrities ranging from Rowan Blanchard to Uma Thurman to showcase the brand’s Resort 2019 collection.
As if the atmosphere in Paris was not electric enough coming from the France 4-3 World Cup win against Argentina, Miu Miu turned things further up at the Hotel Regina with the star-studded cast who were mostly invited at the last minute.
The show was opened by Rowan Blanchard in a slinky black satin column dress sprouting pink ostrich feathers in the back, heralding a parade of 60s flavoured evening gowns and negligees. The collection also featured rhinestones and ruffles, zippered hotpants and boxy colour-blocked cardigans and coats as well as wide-collared jackets in glossy leather or bleached denim.
Uma Thurman closed the show in a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and an oversized black raincoat that she unzipped to reveal an emerald satin and gold leopard lamé dress with a cutout back.
