Christelle Nganhou, the all things Ankara fashion aficionado along side her sister Michelle created one of the biggest African print focused brand of our time. The two sisters created a collection at first paying homage to their surroundings and their culture, unveiling pieces that exposed the unlikeliest use of the Ankara fabric. With that first collection – Grass Fields was born. With all their saving tossed into this business it had to take off and today the dynamic duo is proud because their small Cameroonian brand has become an international one with customers from all over the world.
While Grass Fields is owned by the two sisters, Christelle Nganhou is the brain and face behind the business. Christelle is the sister with the creative flare, the one who takes the risk and the one who just knows what goes with what for their fashion brand. To make things more interesting, Christelle created a fashion blog as part of their web page, the idea was to guide women on how to style pieces from the brand. This idea was good for business since it is undeniable that the designer knows the right way to wear Grass Fields Made pieces.
Christelle Nganhou’s story is one filled with inspiration and determination and we are glad that the designer didn’t give up; if she did we would never have been exposed to the incredible Ankara styles meted out by their fashion brand. So in honour of the beauty of their designs, we’ve curated some of our favourite looks of Christelle rocking Ankara designs from her brand.
Take a look…
